Boost MobileSummary and BackgroundBoost Mobile is one of the youngest cellular phone carriers in the United States, but probably not for long. Located in Irvine, CA, Boost Mobile targets its audience toward the younger crowd demanding mobile phones. Some attractive attributes of Boost Mobile is quality products (phones and accessories), and unique services and communication techniques. By incorporating entertainment into their services such as sports, fashion, and television, Boost Mobile goes beyond the clique of a typical mobile carrier and into the realm of a fun and modern digital lifestyle. After the new merger acquisition with Nextel and Sprint, Boost Mobile became a wholly owned subsidiary servicing more than 3 million customers independently. In its main focus to grow its consumer base, at the same time Boost Mobile is subconsciously revolutionizing the Mobile Industry. Some of the ways Boost Mobile is doing this is by segmenting the crowd of mobile subscribers into different groups (i.e. Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults, and Seniors). This is purely through the simple idea that different people want different things, in this case different services from their phone. Boost Mobile allows you to customize your phone to fit your needs. What a wonderful concept! Boost Mobile launched first in Australia in 2000, riding it’s uniqueness of its feature to “pay as you go”. Rather than paying for the service before you use it, Boost allows you to pay at the end of the month and charges based on how many minutes you accumulate. Current rates for Boost airtime is 20 cents per weekday minute, and 10 cents for nights and weekend minutes (boost time). Following its debut in Australia, Boost brought the same campaign to the United States in 2002 and was very successful in its efforts. Boost Mobile since shown swift growth among the Teenagers as well as the Young Adults. The other unique feature is the built in walkie-talkie, formally known as the Boost “CHIRP”. The name was given from the sound the phone makes when you use the walkie-talkie feature. |
